it's more than a hobby...

I was born into a crafty family. My grandmother was a seamstress, my sister, Jacki is a dressmaker, my sister Jenny worked with fabrics and yarns for many years. My mother could knit anything she set her mind to. Even my godfather and uncle, Ted Gill worked as a cutter for the famous Aussie company "Delta".
I excelled at all kinds of needlework at school and took it as an elective.
Basically, I would rather spend the day, needle in hand putting the last few stitches into a garment or crossstitch project, than running around some field, stick or ball in hand, fighting off the opposition....no thanks!!!!
Far too much fresh air for me....uh huh..
Over the years work, children, work, divorce, work, university, work, have consumed the majority of my time. However, through that I have managed to keep in touch with the delicate arts. My children are all capable sewers, artists etc and over the years I have taught myself other disciplines including folk art, crochet applique just to name a few.
So this blog is my attempt to document the things I create...big or small, successful or disastrous.
Craft is a genuine therapy for me. In times of great stress, some go for a run, watch tv or read a novel. I do all of those things, but given the chance will steal away to a quiet corner and create something.
I invite you to join me, comment and offer feedback, opinion and ideas if you like.
Those of you who are also handy with a needle, scissors, brush, crotchet hook or knitting needles please join me in rediscovering your hidden talents.....
I look forward to showing you some new projects....
and have a wonderful weekend xxx
